Writer and “Weekend Update” host Seth Meyers is already set to leave the program in order to take over Jimmy Fallon’s late night slot. Luckily, however, the man plans to stick around in the fall to usher in a new “Update” host. On Tuesday, Bill Hader also announced he would be leaving the show after years of working the grueling pace the sketch comedy format demands. The NY Post is reporting that Armisen and Sudeikis will reportedly jump ship at the end of Season 38, as well. If both men do decide to leave the series, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise. Sudeikis, after all, was waffling toward the end of last season, but was convinced to stick around, I’m guessing in part due to his excellent election coverage and portrayal of Mitt Romney. Armisen, too, has created the popular IFC series Portlandia and may want to leave the show for other creative projects; he has, after all, been a part of SNL since 2002.

Watch Star Trek 2 Online As important as Armisen and Sudeikis are to the show, in recent years, both men have been cutting back their screen time in order to make room for the new players (and, hopefully, a lot more “Drunk Uncle” appearances). Most notably, Armisen has ceded his role as President Obama to Jay Pharoah, who joined the cast in 2010. With Hader and Meyers leaving, losing Armisen and Sudeikis will definitely be a loss, but hopefully the cast will be able to fill in and cover the gaps, much like they did last year. Hopefully, Kenan Thompson will stick around to leave at least one veteran name on the masthead. Among the new series joining The CW's Fall 2013 line-up is Reign, a period drama about Mary Stuart, the woman who would eventually go on to be known as Mary, Queen of Scots. But the two seem to have some chemistry the moment they set eyes on one another. Others don't seem nearly as keen on this relationship, however.

J.J. has this thing where he makes you want to do your very best all of the time. He never demands it of you. He never kind of like plays any game in asking for it. He never even physically asks you to do it, but you always want to do your best for J.J., because it’s J,J,. So, I ran faster than I’ve run since I was a kid and broke the land speed record. All of the crew applauded and I felt really good about myself, because, you know, I’m the oldest of the crew members and then J.J. said, “That was great, Simon. I think, no, not really. Anton is the youngest and I’m the oldest. Me and Karl are kind of the oldest, as is in the script, really, Bones and Scotty are slightly older. There’s nothing when we’re hanging around with each other that would suggest that anyone is older than anyone else, but I always know that I am. Psychologically I’m like, “I have to keep up with these kids.”

That’s what he loves. He loves his technology and his quantum physics. If he had his way, he would never have to engage in these kind of adventures and I think that’s what makes him kind of a fun character to play, because he reacts in those situations kind of more like we would react. shocked and amazed and a bit freaked out.

But the above red-band trailer uses mainly quotes that make the first film seem worse than it was. “Leaps and bounds beyond its predecessor.” “Infinitely more thrilling.” “Improved in every way.” Let’s have some faith in the product, guys.

Almost every second of this trailer provoked a “What the fuck is that?” shot of anticipation through my spine, or whatever body part horror happens to inhabit. Directors Adam Wingard (You’re Next), Simon Barrett, Eduardo Sánchez (The Blair Witch Project), Jason Eisner (Hobo With a Shotgun), Gregg Hale (Freakylinks), Timo Tijahjanto (Macabre), and Gareth Evans (The Raid: Redemption) have come together to make what looks like it could be the best anthology in years, without the ups and downs of nearly every single similar film that’s come out in the past decade or so.

What doesn’t this trailer offer genre fans? There are nasty looking aliens, a man that explodes, a first person perspective of getting run over by a car, and a bunch of Asian guys committing suicide at the same time. Someone tell the Academy to keep an eye out. One of the vignettes appears to be taken from the point of view of a dog. Cinema is amazing.

Not that the flashbacks need any internal logic to connect them to the main story but the opening scene with Ollie and his dad on the dingy seems to be a memory or dream that is 'happening' while the hero is hanging in chains as captive of Malcolm Merlyn. I think the show used to stress a direct relation between head wounds/sleep and glimpses of the past, but lately they've been cross-cutting between the two whenever it suits the stories. This time, Ollie wakes with a renewed sense of purpose (also reminding us of that fateful day of his father's sacrifice) and, for some reason, missing a shirt. What's up Malcolm? And those green leather pants look ridiculous without the rest of the get-up. Anyway, Arrow is battered and bruised from losing yet another fight against the Black Archer and now they get to have their Bond villain-time together, Malcolm explaining why he's going to such an extreme to 'save' the city. Luckily for Ollie, the evil genius doesn't want to kill his son's best friend.

Watch Star Trek 2 Online The first season of The CW's Arrow came to an end last night with a "Sacrifice," and probably not from who you would think. Actually, it was exactly who you might think. But it still worked. That's right, not all of the characters made it through the undertaking alive and even those who did, it came at great personal cost. The finale was emotional (well, as emotional as the soap opera-ish superhero series is able to get), action-packed and full of spectacle. As much as television can afford anyway. Most of all, the spectacle filled finale was a fitting way to conclude the DC show that started out more as an homage to (or the green carbon-copy of) Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy before finding its own voice somewhere between gritty realism and comic-book silliness. More 'sidekicks,' banter and its fair share of scenery chewing make Arrow feel more fun than the big screen Batman, even when the circumstances are just as dire or the stakes just as high. Maybe it's a simple as an extra layer of The CW cheese but this superhero series walks the fine comic-book line of the serious and ridiculous quite nicely.

"Darkness on the Edge of Town" not only continued to set-up Malcolm Merlyn's undertaking but also revealed Eddie Fyres' full plans in the past, culminating in the death of Yao Fei. Before Ollie's first (super-)mentor bit the bullet, however, Yao was able to slip his former student a way out of his restraints. This week's episode opened with a flashback even further into the past, once again showing Oliver and his Dad in the lifeboat, the latter making his final sacrifice to save his son and, he hopes, Starling City. At this point though, Oliver's not even close to home, let alone saving it, as the island trio have their hands full trying to save a commercial airliner and, by extension, stop a potential global conflict. Hm. Ollie-Slade-Shado and Arrow-Dig-Felicity. Anyway, just as Fyers is making the final adjustments on the attack, Ollie cuts himself and his comrades free, starting an all out assault on the mercs.

Slade and Shado make short work of most of their enemies, the former in a shoot-out, the latter schooling Ollie on how to reprogram the missile and fighting of bad guys. Re-routed, the bomb blows up the mercenaries' tent and it looks like the threesome have triumphed until Fyers shows his smug face with Shado as a captive. He gives Ollie a choice, remain a castaway or join him for a ticket home. Ollie makes his first kill with a bow and arrow. A superhero is born?
